I've been trying to conquer these composition book covers. Not because they are so hard as much as I get ahead of myself. I bought set one and four from Designs by JuJu.
I think these will make great gifts!
I didn't have double fold elastic, so I used some soft elastic I had for mask making. Initially, I used the wrong spine on this one. It turned out too big. I did another hooping, cut the heavy stitching seen by the spine off, and trimmed the spine down to 3 1/4". Redid Spine steps 1, 2 and 9. It worked great!
This one turned out perfect from the get go.
It's for a very special friend.
Front cover quilted from set 4
Back quilted with set 1
Originally, I set out to make her a pillowcase. She is a dear friend, and will be recovering from a procedure next week. I had so much fabric left over that I thought she might like a composition cover to keep notes, questions for the doctor, lists of things to do when better.
I love making this On The Edge Pillow Case.
I cut mine 36x20 and 28x20.
I have made them for gals to take to the hospital when having their baby, get well gifts, and to match quilts I've made for myself and family. I love how the little pocket on the inside keeps the pillow in the case. Each one is accented with a crocheted cotton edge.
Update 3/8/21
