Sew Santa

Ho, Ho Ho!   Sew much Fun!

Thought these were just the cutest tutorial on Pinterest!
This video was very helpful, no actual written pattern.

Starting with a 2.5" square of flesh colored fabric, I added rows like a border, not like a log cabin.  (As suggested in the video)  The first round is white for the beard.  The rest of the rounds - be creative.
All of my rounds were with 1" strips.

Round 1 - (2) 2.5" Strips and (2) 3.5" strips

Round 2 - (2) 3.5" strips and (2) 4.5" strips

Round 3 - (2) 4.5" strips and (2) 5.5" strips

Round 4 - (2) 5.5" strips and (2) 6.5" strips

If you wanted to make it larger the next round would be
(2) 6.5" strips and (2) 7" strips.

I squared up my block then cut a 6.5" square to become the hats on my Santa.   Put right sides together, draw a line from corner to corner.  Sew 1/4" on either side of line then cut along line.

Fold open and press toward the hat.   I did not use any batting in mine.  All the stitching to construct the block made it firm enough for me.

I just stitched my eyes on with embroidery floss.

Cut a final square the same size as previous block.  This one for my size was a 6" block.  Again, put right sides together.  Sew all the way around leaving an opening for turning.  Turn and press.

Fold and sew close to edge.   I tuck a ribbon in and this time to use for hanging.  I also start to sew about 3/4" inch down from point.  This gives me a space to poke the hat out and attach a pom pom if desired.  She shows this on the video also.

I'm going to gift mine on the top of some Holiday Cheer! Literally, you can't make just one!
