A Day Playing in the Scrap Piles...

I spent a large part of today going through scrap bins and cutting strips for Bonnie Hunter's Carolina Chain Quilt.  I have such an odd assortment of prints, I'm really hoping the lights and darks will shine, and it won't be too busy.

At the same time, I added 1.5" strips to this project.  Cut a few 2.5" blocks for the alternating blocks.

I'm also ticking away at Bonnie Hunter's Split 9 patch, leader ender.  I take this project with me when we camp.  There are more blocks completed than pictured... 74, and I only need 200 plus...

There are numerous layouts for this.  My friend, Theresa, made it with a dark solid in the middle of the nine patch, instead of a half square block.  When put together, it adds another dimension.  I love this quilt because it is pretty even with my ugliest fabrics.  I tried matching things at first, but it is truly a light/dark effect.

I'm going to focus on these leader enders, giving myself a little variety, as I work through the other unfinished projects ...
